Vegetarian-Only Lunch Lines
While growing up, I always brought my lunch to school. My mom spoiled Jimmy & me and made our lunches everyday, even in high school; therefore we always had healthy, yet tasty, lunches. However, occasionally I would forget my lunch and would be forced to eat something from the cafeteria. The vegetarian options were slim: greasy cheese pizza, french fries, salad that’s mostly lettuce. Needless to say, I was always hungry when I got home on those days.
Thankfully some schools are starting to realise that they need to accommodate those of us who choose to eat healthier. Grady High School, a local Atlanta school, has started having a separate vegetarian lunch line, serving veggie burgers, pasta salad, veggie springrolls, and more. Even though I would probably continue to bring my lunch if I was still in school these days, I can really appreciate the change from having gross meatless options to having some healthier, real vegetarian options. I’m not sure if my high school has started having a vegetarian lunch line, but hopefully Grady High has started a new trend that will cross the country.
